A few weeks ago, I did a blog post on one of S/S 12 trends 'Under The Sea' over on Modern Girls Guide as the trend was seen on the catwalk last year and is fresh on the high street this summer. It is a new twist on the typical sea life/nautical trend which usually focuses the obvious detailing such as stripes, shades of blues and reds, ropes, boats and anchors. This new summer trend sees heavy use of sea life with new colours, textures and bold prints inspired by sea creatures such as starfish, sea shells, fish, coral reef and even mermaids. I think it is a fun trend! Anything that reminds me of the beach or summer holidays abroad is always a good thing!

This playsuit is from AX Paris and it has a really lovely "under the sea" print, and it is actually the very first playsuit that I own. It is certainly different to anything I own such as florals, polka dots and stripey prints. I am really drawn to anything minty green or aquamarine (that was always my favourite Crayola pencil colour!) so this felt like the perfect choice for my first playsuit!

Floral Skirt and Collar Tips

Shirt Rare Fashion* / Gold Collar Tips eBay / Skirt Room31* / Nails Merino Cool from Essie*

I blogged about these gold collar tips back in February and I have bought a couple more since then, but these are the ones I always go back to. They will look really nice with a pastel colour top, as inspired by Zara's latest collection, and I have been looking for the perfect mint or lilac sheer shirt to go with gold collar tips but not luck as of yet! I guess you can never go wrong with the classic white shirt (this one is from Rare), it goes with everything including this floral skirt from room31. Room31 is an online fashion retailer, and they are offering the readers of this blog 20% off their order. Use promo code TEMPSEC20 (ends 9th June 2012)

Most of you will know by now that it's that time of year for nominations to be placed in the Cosmo Blog Awards. Now, I do find it a little awkward to ask - but it's just the nature of the game so everyone will be in the same boat and if you don't ask, you don't get! - So if you like reading my blog, I'd love it if you voted for me here. If you have a blog too, don't forget to join in! I guess it's just a bit of fun, we have nothing to lose and you never know where it might lead! :)

Dahlia Fashion: Margot Dress

Dress Dahlia / Hat Monki / Nails Essie (Merino Cool) / Bag Topshop / Boots Schuh

It has been about 2-3 weeks ago since I posted a "What I wore" blogpost, I've been so out of the loop with it and sort of lost momentum. However, it's that time of month again when I blog about my new Dahlia dress. This one is the Margot Nautical dress, and it's a really flattering white dress made of lace. The nautical collar is my favourite part, it makes the dress special and unique. My monthly post is up on the Dahlia Girlfriend Blog where I mention that I am attending a food festival this weekend. I forgot how busy and crowded it gets so didn't manage to stay as long as I'd hoped. I got some cakes, a few jars of caramel sauce (to make ice cream fruit salads more interesting), a couple of bottles of cherry and raspberry vinegar (to make vegetable salads more interesting) and also a couple of bars of organic soaps.

During the week, I was featured on ASOS Fashion Finder - you can read it here. I did the interview in the beginning of March so had forgotten about it until it went live this week so it was a nice surprise. Has anyone joined ASOS Fashion Finder? It really makes you want to buy things!

I have made some subtle changes to the menu bag at the top of my blog (just under the blog header). I've separated fashion posts and beauty posts so it should make things easier to navigate depending on what you'd like to read about. Let me know either way, I really value feedback and often make changes based on what's easiest for everyone.

I probably won't start doing any proper "weekly instagram round up" posts on the blog because I don't lead a very exciting life and I only post silly things on there anyway. I still really love seeing everyone's photos though, especially pet or food photos! My user name on instagram is tempsec, here's just a small snapshot of recent photos:

Another Shoe Post!

Remember my previous shoe post, when I showed you shoes I had bought that I totally couldn't walk in? This time, good news - I can actually walk in these! They are all so comfortable and don't made me do THIS! I loved all your advice on how to walk in high heels, and that the main thing to remember is that practise makes perfect. A few of you mentioned wedges too. As you can see, I found a pair in the New Look sales.

I also treated myself to two pairs of chunky heels from Miss Selfridge. I was going to return the Limited Edition pair but I've managed to talk myself into keeping them. Funny that. I love that the heel is made from a rubbery material, so there's more grip when you walk! (Honestly, the things I tell myself to justify keeping things I can't afford!! I have buyers remorse.) Anyway, I feel tall in them so it is worth it!!

Very High Heels

I'm really bad at walking in heels. Other women glide so gracefully in them and I just look at them in awe. The price tag doesn't neccessarily mean that the more you spend on a pair of shoes, the comfier they are (TopShop....I'm looking at you!) and I have low threshold for pain. Anyway, I need to start wearing super high heels and I wanted to show you some of my shoe purchases!

Us ladies really do put ourselves through hell sometimes..... just check out the video below of the girl in super high heels!
